Music Therapy

Tess is a fully qualified and HCPC registered Music Therapist and has been working with children and adults with learning disabilities for over 5 years. Music Therapy seeks to enable communication and expression when words are hard to find. It is appropriate for people of all ages, backgrounds and issues including those with learning difficulties and mental health issues.

All About Music Therapy

Music therapy is an established psychological clinical intervention, which is delivered by HCPC registered music therapists to help people whose lives have been affected by injury, illness or disability through supporting their psychological, emotional, cognitive, physical, communicative and social needs.

  • Therapy sessions are available throughout the week

  • Therapy sessions are available on an individual or group basis

  • Pre-Assessment is compulsory for all clients

  • Therapy sessions last up to 45 minutes

  • An individual session will involve various types of musical interactions, which may include singing songs, improvising music together, or working on a project such as song writing or creating a CD using technology such as an iPad

  • Group music therapy helps to develop social interaction. The structure of the sessions depends on the group, but often projects will be undertaken, most commonly song writing
